Mitford School
Named for the vanished 1880s village of Mitford just west of town, this West Valley middle school added French Immersion in 2023 and serves grades 5–8. A tidy, community-scaled option on the west edge of Cochrane.

Mitford is Cochrane's other middle school — home of the Lions — taking grades 5 to 8 on Quigley Drive. Students work on a one-to-one technology setup, with band, school sports and a rotating slate of clubs outside class time, and a Child Development Advisor and learning support staff on site. The school builds its year around Rocky View's education plan and is candid about wanting learning to be visible to parents: its plan and its goals are published rather than buried. Between Mitford and Manachaban, most Cochrane families have a middle school within a short drive.
